Overview

You are able to upgrade an existing service to a larger plan, or to another location at any time. Upgrades are billed on a prorated basis. You are charged the difference between your current plan and the new plan for the remainder of your billing cycle, and the new plan price applies from your next invoice onwards. If you have a promotional plan, we are not able to apply the same discount toward an upgrade unless the promotion is still active.

Availability

Upgrades are only available if there is capacity on our hypervisors. We are not able to make exceptions to inventory. If the control panel shows that the upgrade is out of stock, then we generally cannot override it.

Downgrades

It is not possible to downgrade to a service with a lower disk size than your current service. If you need a smaller plan, you will need to purchase the smaller service separately and migrate your data to it. Any unused time on the original service will be refunded to account credit per our Refund Policy.

Upgrading

You can navigate to the upgrade tab of our VPS control panel to see a list of available upgrade options. Upgrade Tab You can upgrade your VPS without increasing its disk space by leaving the “Resize disk to the selected plan” option unchecked. When this option is unchecked, your VPS will keep its current disk size even if the new plan includes more storage. This can make it easier to downgrade later. Keep in mind that you can only downgrade to a plan whose included disk space is greater than or equal to your VPS’s current disk size. Clicking on “Review Upgrade” will give you a summary of the costs. Review Upgrade Please note that if you are upgrading to a plan in another location, there will be a $5 one time location change fee. Additionally, the process can take a few hours and all IP addresses of the server will change, since the virtual server will need to be copied across locations. If you are upgrading the plan to the same location but to a different product group (e.g., KVM Standard VPS -> KVM Premium VPS), a $2.50 one time fee will apply. The process can take around 30 minutes and the IP addresses of the server will not change. If you are only upgrading the plan and not changing product groups or locations, no change fee will apply but the process can take up to 30 minutes and the IP addresses of the server will not change. The server will be fully offline while the change or upgrade is processing. We recommend stopping your server before the upgrade occurs Once you confirm that you want to review the upgrade, you will have 30 minutes to pay the invoice. If the invoice is not paid within that timeframe, then the stock is released and we cannot guarantee availability.
