Overview
Account credit is a prepaid balance held on your billing account. Once funds are on your account, they are applied automatically toward invoices as your services renew, and they can be used to pay for new orders or upgrades at checkout. Credit can reach your account in two ways. You can add funds yourself from the client area, or credit can be issued to you by us, most commonly as a pro-rata refund when you cancel a service. See our Refund Policy for how refunds to account credit work.Eligibility
If you have just created an account and have never ordered from us, the Add Funds page will not be available to you. This is not a fault with your account and it does not mean anything is wrong with it. We apply this requirement because an account with no order history and a credit balance is a common pattern in payment fraud and money laundering. Restricting deposits to accounts that have an order history protects both us and our customers, and it keeps our payment processors in good standing. To become eligible, place an order for any service and pay for it with a normal payment method rather than credit. Once that order has been paid, the Add Funds page becomes available to you. A service that you previously owned and have since cancelled also satisfies this requirement. The service does not need to still be active.Adding Funds
Once you are eligible, log into the client area and navigate to Billing → Add Funds. Enter the amount that you would like to deposit, choose a payment method, and submit the form. An invoice is generated for the deposit. Your balance is credited once that invoice is paid and the payment has cleared. Card and PayPal payments are usually applied within a few minutes. Cryptocurrency payments are applied after the transaction confirms on-chain, and bank transfers can take several business days. There is a minimum and a maximum deposit amount, as well as a cap on the total balance that an account may hold at one time. These limits are shown on the Add Funds page. If your deposit is rejected for exceeding the maximum balance, please pay down your existing invoices before depositing again.Using Account Credit
Credit is applied automatically to invoices that are generated after the funds are already on your account. If your balance covers such an invoice in full, the invoice is marked as paid without charging your payment method. If it only covers part of the invoice, the credit is applied first and the remainder is left due on your chosen payment method.Invoices that were generated before you added the account credit are not paid automatically. Adding funds does not settle an invoice that already exists, and the invoice will stay unpaid and continue to move toward suspension until you pay it yourself.
Refunding Account Credit
Account credit is intended to be spent on services with us. We are generally not able to return an account credit balance to your original payment method, and services that were paid for using account credit are refunded back to account credit rather than to the original payment method. This is set out in our Refund Policy. For this reason, we recommend only depositing what you expect to spend with us over the course of your billing cycles.Frequently Asked Questions
